A strong 6.2-magnitude earthquake struck off Bali on Friday 11 March at 1:08:36 AM local time. The tremor was centred in the Bali Sea 259 km (160 miles) NE of Denpasar. At a depth of 508 km (315 miles) the earthquake was located too deep inside the earth to generate a tsunami.
