“Devdan” is a show in Nusa Dua incorporating Indonesian culture, dance and circus acts in a purpose build 800 seat theatre. The spectacle is set to become a new major attraction here in Bali.

In case you puzzle over the name, “Devdan” means “God’s grace”.

In a 90-minutes show the audiences are taken on a magical journey across Bali and beyond to the archipelago of Indonesia. The story is told in six different scenes named Bali, Sumatra, Java, Meeting the Demons, Borneo, and Papua. Two young children are lost in the jungles of Bali where they make an astonishing discovery. And then, their magical journey traveling across the vast archipelago of Indonesia begins. The show has gigantic traditional puppets, creepy demons, an enchanted weaving hut and a life size temple that all come alive with hi-tech special effects, superb illusions and aerial acrobatics.

According to the show’s website tickets for adults range from US$45, US$65 and US$85 to US$120. Children pay US$29, children between the ages of 4 years old up to 12 years old will receive a 35 percent discount.

On behalf of the Balinese, I offer my sincerest condolences to the people of Japan and may the Almighty strengthen their spirit to face the difficult days ahead,” Bali’s Governor Made Mangku Pastika said.

Government and Bali tourism leaders held a “Pray for Japan” ceremony at Pura Luhur Uluwatu, one of the most sacred temples on Bali. The event was also attended by more than 50 Hindu priests, students, religious figures and community leaders.
